![]() ![]() It was a bloody scene, spells flew from one end of the room to the next, and monsters and heroes alike fell in battle. While the rest of the group charged into the room, O'Tene still under the effects of the invisibility spell snuck into the room to get into position to take out the Magic-User, a plan that would pay off as the battle unfolded. The target of the spell was the undead creature but when the smoke cleared it was still standing. Tjorvi boldly stepped into the room, surprising the enemy with a powerful fireball spell that lit the room up. Among them was several Dark Lancers, A Commander, A Magic-User and one terrifying undead creature in armor, presumably some sort of Liche or Zombie. In it, nearly a dozen men sat at the table in a meeting. The room was some sort of large hall with a massive table as its centerpiece. She entered the room, surveyed it, and made the faithful call. Either she would pretend like she walked into the room by mistake and excuse herself, or she would signal the group to attack. The group formulated a plan in which Linda, their Cleric dressed up in a Dark Lancer uniform would enter the room, hopefully not drawing too much attention to herself and she would make a key decision based on her observation. Some sort of gathering of a dozen or so people could be heard in an adjacent room, it was difficult to make out the conversation but it was clear these were not common men, but soldiers. It was deeper into the tower that they finally found some signs of life. Using the sleep spell trick again, they put down the random cooks and service personnel in the kitchen as they moved into the room.įrom here they dispatched several guards in adjacent rooms, each time making the silent kills. The only noise he found was coming from an apparent kitchen and this room would be the target of the group's first exploration of this level. In front of them was the staircase leading up into the tower and so they ventured forth with stealth as their priority.Īs O'Tene emerged on the first level of the tower through a trap door from the dungeon below he noted the uneasy quietness of this place. Here they only found the remnants of the victims of this prison. The group left the Jailer tied up in the Dungeon and continued to search through the rest of the jail. While the jailer did not know the purpose of these statues, he noted sometimes they moved. Additionally, the group was informed of the strange dragon statues in the keep. According to the Jailer they were somewhere in the keep preparing. They collected some information from the Jailer about the tower, the most notable of which was that there was a mercenary group known simply as "The Death Squad" led by a Dwarf named Kalen that was hired to find and kill the troupe. Clearly, he was not proud of this reality, but this man was clearly a survivor. The Jailer was taken from the nearby town, a blacksmith according to him and was forced to run this dungeon prison, torturing and murdering numerous people over the last year. They spoke with the man and came to the harsh realization that not everyone in this place was a willing participant. The group mercilessly killed the Dark Lancers in this room, all except one, a man with a Jailer tattoo on his arm, clearly the keeper of this dungeon. A secret door blocked their entry and using a clever tactic of casting sleep through the wall, they were able to dispatch enough of the guards so that when Wrathamon forced the door open they could enter stealthily. It was clear to O'Tene however that the wall at the end of this tunnel was anything but a dead end. They ran up on a giant Pit Viper which they quickly dispatched, eventually finding themselves at the dead end of the tunnel. The group entered into the tunnel cautiously using their typical tricks to great effect. ![]() Sure enough, Wrathamon discovered tracks that led to a long tunnel into the keep. The group searched for a way into the tower, they knew with this toxic fog, there had to be a way for those that enter and leave this place to pass through the fog. Eventually, the creature flew off again, a foreboding scene of things to come. ![]() The terrifying creature was massive, three times the size of the beast they had slayed just days earlier in this same forest. In the course of the day they watched as a massive black dragon arrived to the tower, landing at it's highest point. They searched for the entire day, surveying the area, watching it from every angle, and weighing their options. It smelled like it too, the fog that covered this place was toxic and the group knew they could not simply enter the valley and walk through the front door. As the group arrived at the edge of a fog-filled forest overlooking the valley that housed the stronghold of the Shadow Lord, they knew they were entering the pits of hell. ![]()
